Highlights
- A Striking Path of 123 Torii Gates Toward the Sea
Motonosumi Shrine is famous for its 123 red torii gates that stretch over 100 meters toward the Sea of Japan. This dramatic sight has gained international attention and is a must-see for photographers and travelers alike. - Spectacular Contrast of Red, Blue, and Green
The vivid red gates set against the cobalt-blue ocean and lush green cliffs create a breathtaking palette. The scenery changes with the seasons and weather, offering a fresh experience on every visit. - Perfect Touring Spot Along with Tsunoshima Bridge
Located about 40 minutes away by car or motorcycle, the iconic Tsunoshima Bridge is another coastal gem worth visiting. Touring both locations in one scenic route offers the best of Yamaguchi’s coastline.
Quick Impression
The view of the torii gates facing the sea looked exactly like the pictures I’d seen online—if not better. I was honestly overwhelmed by its beauty. It’s also a popular spot for international tourists, and everyone was trying their best to capture the perfect shot.
Once you pass through the gates, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic ocean views—but be aware: the cliff edge is steep, so those afraid of heights might need to tread carefully. Still, it’s an unforgettable experience well worth the ride!
