Today, I visited “Ogino Pan,” famous for its fried bread! Ogino Pan is a staple touring spot in Kanagawa, especially popular among riders. On weekends, many riders and cyclists stop by, but since it was a cold December weekday, there were fewer motorcycles. Nevertheless, the freshly fried bread is always delicious, no matter when you visit!
What is Ogino Pan? A Long-Established Bakery Famous for Fried Bread
Founded in 1960, Ogino Pan is a long-standing bakery located in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is especially known for its “Tanzawa Anpan” and “Fried Bread.” The factory direct sales store is a beloved touring spot for riders and cyclists. On weekends, in addition to bikers and cyclists, families with children and those out for a drive also visit, making the store and parking lot lively.
In the past, Ogino Pan supplied bread for school lunches in Kanagawa Prefecture, deeply embedding itself in the local community. However, due to changes such as the free school lunch policy, the lunch business ended in March 2023. While this was a business decision, it was a bit of a sad announcement for the local residents.
Currently, Ogino Pan operates several stores mainly in Kanagawa Prefecture, but today, I’ll introduce the popular factory direct sales store, a favorite stop for riders.
Why Ride to Ogino Pan? The Allure of This Touring Spot
Ogino Pan is popular among riders due to its location. Surrounding it are famous touring routes such as Doshi Road and Lake Miyagase, making it an ideal resting spot for bikers.
Doshi Road is a popular mountain pass that extends to Lake Yamanaka, making it a must-see route for many motorcyclists.

With vending machines and restrooms on-site, it’s a convenient spot to stop. After riding along Doshi Road or Lake Miyagase, taking a break with a fried bread in hand is one of the best pleasures for riders.
The motorcycle parking lot is marked by the “あげぱん” (Agepan) sign, but since the ground is sloped, it’s recommended to park in the second parking lot if you’re unsure about maneuvering your bike.
The second parking lot is located across from Lawson.
Ogino Pan Factory Direct Sales Store Interior
The interior of the direct sales store is bright and clean, with a wide variety of freshly made bread on display, including fried bread. The lively atmosphere attracts both regulars from the local area and tourists.
Since Ogino Pan does not accept credit cards or electronic payments, please remember to bring cash when you visit.
On weekends and holidays, fried bread is sold outside the store, and you can purchase it using a ticket machine.
A unique feature of the store is that factory tours are available without the need for a reservation. You can casually visit and get a close-up look at the bread-making process, a treat for bread lovers!
