Highlights
- A Perfect Pit Stop for Touring Riders
The coastal touring route around the Kunisaki Peninsula offers light traffic and beautiful scenery. For motorcyclists, Oita Airport makes for a convenient and comfortable rest stop. - More Than Just an Airport
Oita Airport has much to offer beyond flights. From souvenir shops and restaurants to an observation deck and a free foot bath, it’s a great place to relax even if you’re not flying. The foot bath is especially recommended to soothe tired legs after a long ride. Bringing your own towel is ideal, but you can also buy one at the information desk. - A Must for Sanrio Fans!
Currently collaborating with Hello Kitty, the airport features various Kitty-themed decorations. What many don’t know is that Harmonyland, Sanrio’s official theme park, is only about a 30-minute drive from the airport. This makes Oita Airport an ideal part of a Hello Kitty pilgrimage for fans.
Quick Impression
The observation deck offers a front-row seat to airplane takeoffs and landings—an exciting experience even if you’re not flying. The compact design of this regional airport makes it easy to explore, and I’m glad I decided to stop by mid-ride. Next time, I’ll bring a towel and spend a little more time soaking in the foot bath.
