Highlights
- Located along the ramen hotspot of Kan-ni (Route 2), Butayama Kan-ni Shimonagaya offers a more approachable version of Jiro-style ramen. The shop is known for its clean interior, friendly staff, and a menu that’s welcoming even for ramen beginners.
- You can choose from smaller portions like the Mini Ramen (125g noodles), making it great for those with lighter appetites or first-time Jiro fans. Despite its bold appearance, the flavor is surprisingly light and easy to enjoy.
- Motorcyclists are also in luck — dedicated bike parking is available, making it a great stop during a touring ride through Yokohama.
Quick Impression
I was originally headed to a different ramen spot on Route 2, but it was closed for the day. While deciding what to do next, I spotted Butayama. It was a chain I’d been meaning to try, and the motorcycle parking sealed the deal. I’d heard the portions were big, so I cautiously ordered the Mini Ramen (125g). But to my surprise, it was light and went down easily — I finished it in no time. Honestly, I kind of regretted not going for the Small Ramen (250g)!
