Highlights
- The Original Hita Yakisoba—Crispy, Flavorful, and Unforgettable
Soufuren is considered the birthplace of Hita-style yakisoba. The noodles are grilled on a hot iron plate until golden brown, giving them a crispy texture that’s truly unique. Flavorful, addictive, and surprisingly light—even a large serving goes down easily. - Convenient Location Next to a Roadside Station
Located right next to Mizube no Sato Oyama roadside station, the restaurant is ideal for touring riders. The spacious parking lot makes it a perfect stopover to take a break and enjoy a hearty meal. - A Pilgrimage Site for Attack on Titan Fans
Oyama is the hometown of Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama. Just a short ride away, you’ll find the Oyama Dam, said to have inspired parts of the story. Statues of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin as children are placed there, making it a must-visit spot for fans. Fun fact: Isayama once worked part-time at this very Soufuren branch!
Quick Impression
I ordered the large yakisoba—and it did not disappoint! The crispy texture of the noodles combined with the seasoning made it incredibly satisfying. Even though the portion was generous, I finished it in no time. The Oyama area is surrounded by beautiful nature and offers scenic, relaxing roads perfect for motorcycle touring. It’s a hidden gem where you can enjoy great food and an anime pilgrimage all in one stop.
